Publication of the “Guía de aplicación del Código Estructural a la edificación. Hormigón armado”

The “Guía de aplicación del Código Estructural a la edificación. Hormigón armado” written by the professor of our department Alejandro Calle García, along with engineer Juan Carlos Arroyo Portero and former professor, has just been published. Another of our professors, Luis Vega Catalán, from the Dirección General de Agenda Urbana y Arquitectura del Ministerio de Vivienda y Agenda Urbana, also participated in its direction and coordination, together with personnel from the Instituto de Ciencias de la Construcción Eduardo Torroja (IETcc).

The Structural Code is an extensive and complex standard with general methods for many types of structural situations and typologies. The purpose of this Application Guide is to facilitate the use of the Code for a large majority of professionals who design simple reinforced concrete structures. Referring to simple structures, which are the majority of those built, allows for the simplification of the rules. This document constitutes a guide for these structures and, therefore, is a document with less length and is compact, that is, it has the vocation to be useful by itself.
