Description and objectives

The workshop is an introduction to architectural acoustics, focusing on sound isolation and acoustic conditioning, as well as urban acoustics.

The objective of this workshop is to simply develop, based on fundamental theoretical principles and many practical cases, the techniques used in both building acoustics and urban acoustics. An introduction to the Odeon program and isolation measurements is provided.

Course content

  • Perception of sound and its measurement.
  • Acoustic conditioning and materials.
  • Virtual acoustics and auralizations. Odeon simulation software.
  • Acoustic isolation from airborne noise and impact noise.
  • Urban acoustics and soundscape.
