Description
- Development of the structural system at the execution project level.
- Decision-making strategies in defining the structural system.
- Training for the execution project of structures.
The aim is to train students in the conception of the structures for their own projects and in the production of both general and detailed execution plans corresponding to the structure. The objective is to develop the ability to create, read, and critique such documents, adapted to current regulations (the structural project).
It is also intended to present students with a basic set of concepts that transcend those used in analysis, useful for characterizing structural behavior based on its shape parameters, which facilitates the incorporation of the structural solution in the geometric exploration corresponding to the initial phases of conception of any project (the structure in the project).
Course content
- Project and decision. Project methodology, regulatory framework.
- Structure scheme. Project documentation for structures.
- Structural materials: scope, self-weight, and stability.
- Floor structures: slabs, beams, supports, openings, edges, connections, foundations, etc.
- Rules of proportion in lintel structures.
- Project strategy in response to horizontal action: conventional and high-rise buildings.
- Costs, quantity of structure, and minimum structure.
- Structural use of wood: accidental fire situation, rehabilitation.
- Facades: loads, constraints.
- Joints: Typification, conception, and analysis.
- Costs in bending, arches, beams, trusses.
- Roofs with large spans: trusses, arches, vaults, domes, and rings. Graphic methods.
- Conclusions: Processes and product of the execution project and the construction.
